About Mrs. P:
Kathy Kinney, co-president of Mrs. P Enterprises LLC, was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and achieved international fame playing Mimi Bobeck on “The Drew Carey Show” for nine years. (Kathy is the only member of the Mrs P team who has had a doll manufactured in her image.) Before playing Mimi, Kathy had guest starring roles on “Seinfeld” and “Grace Under Fire,” as well as portraying Miss Goddard, the town librarian, on “Newhart.” She also appeared in the films “This Boy’s Life” and “Stanley and Iris,” among others. She currently can be seen in the occasional episode of “My Name Is Earl” and as Bunny on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” She lives in Los Angeles, enjoys traveling, puttering and books.
About the book:
A collection of the world's best-loved children's stories chosen by the world's best-loved storyteller. The book includes over 90 original illustrations from the finest contemporary artists, as well as Mrs. P's hilarious new introductions to each story. The book is interactive and can be used by kids to learn reading in conjunction with the free MrsP.com website. Stories include: "The Frog Prince", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Sleeping Beauty", and "The Emperor's New Clothes". Perfect for ages 4 to 10.
My take on the book:
It's certainly no secret that I'm a huge fan of Mrs. P (An Interview with Mrs. P & Reading Resource: Mrs. P's Magic Library), so it's not going to be a surprise to you that I loved this book! The four stories in the book ("The Frog Prince", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Sleeping Beauty", and "The Emperor's New Clothes") are all classic tales most of us are familiar with and the accompanying illustrations are fantastic. The highlight feature though is the read-along-with-the-website feature which makes this a truly unique book.
My daughter is a little young to appreciate the coolness factor of the read along feature but definitely watching Mrs. P online. I think ideally the book and the read-along-feature work best for kindergarten and elementary school age children. Teachers should take note as well. I can see this being a great tool in the classroom in teaching kids how to read, and in helping them build stronger literacy skills.
You can check out more of what Mrs. P has to offer on her website and also on iTunes and Audio Book. Please also remember that if when you purchase book, 10% of all after-tax profits gets donated to literacy organizations.

My Grandson's who live here with us would LOVE this book. They are ages 3 and 5! Thanks for the opportunity!
My grandmother was an actress and my father inherited her flair for drama! Also in community theater, he would delight in reading to us when we were children. I just loved this escape into fantasy and imagination. When we had three daughters, and lived 1,000 miles away, he would tape stories to send to our girls...we wore these out listening to them over and over again.
I am so happy that now similar resources for story time are available for children via read-a-loud stories in multiple formats. Having apps for on the go is amazing! I would love to share these stories with the children in my life...or maybe the inner child in me will relish these adventures!
Thanks for all you have done to inspire children to love literacy~
