Reading Resource: Books That Move You

*** We are going to start posting reading resources for dads (and moms) with ideas and ways for them to promote a lifelong love of reading with their children. If you have a resource you’d like to share, please feel free to contact us.

This week’s resource comes from: Head Start Body Start – National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play

What does Head Start Body Start do?: HSBS aims to increase physical activity, outdoor play, and healthy eating among Head Start and Early Head Start children, families, and staff. We help Head Start and Early Head Start Centers to create healthy learning environments and promote physical activity that leads to the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children and reduces obesity and its associated costs.

Resource: Books That Move You (download PDF) – This handout lists books you can read which will get you moving. This is like getting a two for one deal – promoting early literacy skills and movement at the same time! Just read these books which your kids and have them move to the words in a variety of creative ways.
