Book Dads is happy to present to you the latest Carnival of Children’s Literature!
It's been a busy month on Book Dads as we have spent the entire month celebrating Father's Day. I've been extra busy myself as I'm getting ready to move TOMORROW from Michigan to Oregon.
It seems that I'm not only one extra busy as this month's carnival is a bit lighter than usual. Nonetheless, it's still packed with great posts! Please visit all the links and leave a comment as to what your favorite was.
Now, onto the links...
* Read Aloud Dad presents Terrific Treasuries: James Herriot`s Treasury for Children posted at Read Aloud Dad.
My fellow book blog brother-in-arms, Read Aloud Dad, took over three days to write his review this terrific treasure. As he writes in his review, "James Herriot's Treasury for Children: Warm and Joyful Tales by the author of All Creatures Great and Small is chock full of character-building, emotional stories that are certain to leave a deep imprint on the souls of its young listeners."
* Amy Broadmoore presents 10 Children's Books About Gardening posted at Delightful Children's Books.
Delightful Children's Books is my to-go blog for ideas for children's books and this month she again brings us another terrific resource --- this time 10 fantastic books about gardening. With our move, we didn't start a garden this year, but fortunately, our new residence in Oregon has garden plots. I'll be taking this list of 10 gardening books to the library soon after our arrival.
* Trudy Zufelt presents Don't Be Stressed About What Your Boys Read, Stress That They Read posted at Boys and Reading, Writing and Learning.
I loved Trudy's mention of male reading role models for helping to get boys to read: "On a final note, I can't stress how important it is for boys to have a positive male role model. My sons see their father reading. They see the books on their dad's nightstand. My 17 year old even borrows his dad's books. It gives them something to talk about."
* Trudy Zufelt presents Should I Buy My Child an EReader? posted at Boys and Reading, Writing and Learning.
Trudy shares her thoughts on e-readers: "Scholatic's 2010 Kid and Family Reading Report found that over half of children age 9-17 are interested in reading an eBook and a third of children age 9-17 say they would read more books for fun if they had access to an eReader. If I could get either of my sons to read a third more than what they do now, it would definitely be worth it."
* Crissa-Jean Chappell presents total constant order - sunshine and shadow posted at Crissa.
Personally, my favorite post of this month's carnival about fantasy books for girls and writing to your true self. I love this quote from her post, "I want to write books for my younger self...and for the girls for climbed trees. Fell off bikes and skinned their knees. Caught lightning bugs and built forts in the backyard. The girls who weren't afraid of the dark."
* Chris Singer presents Father's Day Celebration posted at Book Dads.
Our Father's Day Celebration included guest posts and reviews from the likes of Artie Bennett (author of "The Butt Book"), Ryan LaLonde (author of Families Come in Many Different Shapes, Sizes and Colors), Eric DelaBarre (author of Saltwater Taffy), Mrs. P from Mrs. P's Storytime, Scott Neumyer (author of Jimmy Stone's Ghost Town), Daddy Daughter Publishing and Del Shannon (author of Kevin's Point of View).
Plus, a very special v-log from Todd Parr (author of The Daddy Book), which you can check out here:
Thanks for checking out this month's carnival. July's host is: Emmy's Book of the Day

Hi Chris,
I wonder if there was a problem with the carnival software - I submitted a post (and rec'd a receipt) and I know of at least one other who did the same, and neither of us are included in your round up of links - so perhaps they didn't get to you?
I also submitted something that was not included, so I think there was a glitch in the system somewhere. Thanks for hosting, though.
Thanks so much for hosting, Chris! There seems to have been a software glitch, so I have rounded up all of the posts that were NOT sent to you at Chapter Book of the Day. I wish you all the best with your move!
Yes, Good Luck with the move - and when you get a chance to look at Anastasia's post, I think you'll realise the Carnival is as crwded a party as ever!
